AIRTEK’s Proven Desiccant Dryer Systems

Heatless Dryers

AIRTEK Heatless Dryers (TW Series) remove water vapor from compressed air through the adsorption and pressure swing process. Utilizing the twin tower design and a solid state controller, compressed air is directed through one tower where water vapor is adsorbed, a portion of that dried air is then directed through the other tower to regenerate (purge) that off-stream bed of the moisture adsorbed during the previous cycle. Typically the dew point of compressed air dried in this manner is lowered to -40°F/C. AIRTEK dryers utilize up flow drying and down flow regeneration in order to minimize the effects of any liquid slugging of the unit. Standard features include Sequence Annunciator, Variable Cycle Control, Surge Protection, and Pro-Purge Energy Management Control (model TW-250 and above).

Externally Heat Reactivated Dryers

AIRTEK Externally Heat Reactivated Dryers use the twin tower adsorption method to remove water vapor from compressed air. To reduce the regeneration purge consumption required in heatless dryers, it is directed through an external heater prior to being used for regeneration of the off-stream desiccant tower. Rugged activated alumina desiccant is used to typically lower dew point to -40°F/C.

AIRTEK patented Multi-Port Regeneration System is used to assure that the heat from the purge air is directed to the part of the desiccant tower where the bulk of the moisture is located. Energy efficiency, tighter dew point control, and more thorough regeneration are accomplished with this design. AIRTEK TWP dryers have the capability of being used in the heatless dryer mode should repairs be necessary for a component used in the heated system.

Heaters are covered by a 5-year warranty, made possible by the use of AIRTEK’s unique ThermaLoc heater control system. Butterfly type switching valves carry a 3-year warranty. All functions are managed and monitored by AIRTEK’s Master Control Center.

Blower Purge Dryers

For applications where compressed air is at a premium, or simply unavailable for regenerating a desiccant dryer, AIRTEK offers the TWB Series Blower Purge Dryer. An external blower sends atmospheric air through a heater to be used for purging the off-stream desiccant tower. In this design all compressed air that enters the dryer can be utilized for the consumer’s process. Dew points typically range from 0°F to -40°F (-18°C to -40°C), but through the selection of a dry air sweep, dew points can be held to the lower value. A small amount of purge air (less than 2%) would be consumed in order to make use of standard selectable feature. The TWB unit can be used as a heatless dryer (standard heatless back-up feature), should replacement of components in the heated system become necessary. Heaters in the AIRTEK TWB Series are protected by the exclusive ThermaLoc System, and hence carry a 5-year warranty. Butterfly switching valves have a 3-year warranty. All functions are managed and monitored by AIRTEK’s Master Control Center.
